President of the Rally of Democracy and Progress, Mike Kavekotora, said the recently tabled N$ 67.9 billion National Budget does not address the critical issue of food security. The Namibia press agency quotes Kavetotora as saying the allocation of N$ 1.7 billion or 2.9 per cent of the 2021/22 budget to the agriculture ministry is concerning as that ministry is supposed to be the main stream of the current economic situation. He believes the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown that resulted from it has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt the importance of securing food for a nation and should have guided government in drawing up this budget.
