The City of Johannesburg wants former mayor Herman Mashaba to be held accountable for his unlawful and irregular meddling in the city’s procurement processes during his tenure. Newsflash reports that Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane yesterday revealed that Mashaba had been complicit in irregular expenditure of nearly 2.4-billion-rand while he was mayor. City spokesperson Mlimandela Ndamase says this proves that Mashaba had unduly interfered in tender processes to benefit companies linked to himself and his wife.
