Former Johannesburg mayor and People’s Dialogue leader Herman Mashaba, who is reportedly set to launch his new political party in the next ten days says the national elections should be held next year, instead of in 2024 if the government wants to avoid the collapse of the country’s economy. Newsflash reports that speaking to Independent Media, Mashaba said early elections are necessary because the country is plunging into further financial and economic difficulties due to Covid-19, further exacerbating the crisis it already finds itself in.
