Six low income houses are being constructed at the Freedom Square informal settlement in Gobabis as part of the commemoration of Habitat Day, which was held under the theme; ‘Housing for all, a better urban future.’ The Namibia press agency reports that the six houses are being constructed by the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia with N$ 200 000, provided by the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development which was initially intended to fund the celebration of Habitat Day, something Deputy Minister of Urban and Rural Development Derek Klazen praised, saying that funds availed for the celebration of Habitat Day should be used in the same manner every year.
