The Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture has announced the appointment of Mr. Gerard Norman Vries, effective September 1, 2020 as the new Deputy Executive Director for LifeLong Learning, Arts and Culture replacing Ms Veno Kauaria following her resignation last year. Vries, according to a press release issued by the Ministry, brings a wealth of experience to his new role of providing strategic leadership and supervision in many of the Ministry’s Directorates, and has an impressive collection of academic qualifications, including a Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Iowa State University and Certificates of Achievement attained in Denver, Colorado and Indianapolis, Indiana. He also holds a Bachelor of Education and a Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education from the University of Namibia, and a Bachelor of Arts (Social Studies) and Diploma in African Studies from the University of Cape Town, among others.
