Road Fund Administration Chief Executive Officer, Ali Ipinge says that due to persistent underfunding over the years, the quality of the Namibian road network keeps deteriorating with sub-optimal maintenance work also contributing. The Namibia press agency quotes Ipinge as saying that the RFA needs N$3.9 billion for routine maintenance, reseal, rehabilitation, regravel and upgrading of the national road network. However, RFA was only able to fund N$ 2.6 billion under its business plan. As a result, 43 per cent of the gravel road network is in an unacceptable condition, while 10 per cent of the paved road network is in a bad condition.
