Laboratories in France and Sweden have confirmed German findings that Russian dissident Alexei Navalny was poisoned with a chemical agent from the Novichok group. Deutsche Presse reports that the statement comes after Berlin, where Navalny is currently being treated since beinng woken from his medically induced coma, took the case to international watchdog, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, with German government spokesman Steffen Seibert calling the poisoning ‘a serious violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention’.
