Egyptian authorities have released a blogger and satirist who had been detained for more than two years. Twenty-seven-year old Shadi Abu Zeid was arrested in May 2018 after he was accused of being a member of a terrorist group and spreading false news. He started his satirical programme, The Rich Content, on social media three years earlier. BBC reports that human rights groups have accused the government of cracking down on dissents after the military staged a coup in 2013.
