The Editors’ Forum of Namibia, of which Future Media News is a member, has reacted with grave concern to the pushing and harassing of journalists by members of the Namibian Police’s Special Field Force during the #ShutItAllDown protest marches in Windhoek on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, condemning the manhandling and intimidation of journalists and the eventual arrest of three journalists on Saturday afternoon. The EFN is equally concerned by reports by other journalists of defiant remarks by police officers towards them and signs of disrespect for media freedom, highlighting that incidents where police officers randomly prevent journalists from using the tools of their trade to record and report stories are on the increase.
