President Hage Geingob has said the second version of the Harambee Prosperity Plan will focus on three key areas to transform the economy. The areas include the agriculture, education, and health sectors. Robert McGregor, an economist with CIRRUS Capital, however, says that while the three highlighted sectors are important, he believes the government should rather first focus on rectifying bureaucratic processes, introduce efficient and effective spending and reduce the country’s large deficits to kick-start the economy. McGregor suggests the government should also make it easier to start a business which in-turn will create jobs and employ people so that they can improve their lives rather than having certain sectors chosen as winners at the cost of other sectors by the government.
