The DA in the Eastern Cape calls on local government to host a rural safety summit to address the ongoing farm murders, stock theft and the high general crime rates reported in the province’s rural areas. Newsflash reports that government recorded almost 64-thousand cases of livestock theft in the province in its 2019/2020 annual financial report. The DA’s Bobby Stevenson says this has worsened during the lockdown with rural residents now living in fear of armed thieves who steal their sheep and cattle.
