The City of Windhoek and the Namibian Red Cross Society have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote disaster resilience and provide humanitarian assistance to vulnerable communities around Windhoek. Teams from the NRCS and CoW recently conducted a site visit to the informal settlements that are in danger of flooding, and are planning a sand-bagging project to help protect the most vulnerable areas, with the City of Windhoek’s Corporate Communications, Marketing and Public Participation Manager, Harold Akwenye, telling Future Media News that this is being done to prevent people from losing their lives.
