South Africa’s Minister of Health Zweli Mkhize says the global Covid-19 pandemic has once again highlighted the inequality in the country’s health sector. Speaking during yesterday’s World Health Day webinar, Mkhize said the pandemic has put more pressure on government to implement the National Health Insurance as it plans to address some of the challenges faced by the sector, including the distribution of specialised professionals across the country. He says last year’s rise in infections put a lot into focus.
