The South African health department has a kombi at all its border posts for rapid testing, before leaving the country. These tests can take anywhere between 15 minutes and 1 hour for the results, depending on how busy it is and costs a mere R170. This is much more affordable compared to the price Namibians have to pay and has a faster result turnover. Future Media News contacted the Executive Director of the Ministry of Health and Social Services, Ben Nangombe who says buying equipment like that is very expensive.
