Award-winning Zimbabwean journalist Hopewell Chin’ono, who has been jailed three times in six months for anti-government tweets, was granted bail on Wednesday by the country’s High Court after nearly three weeks in pre-trial detention. News24 reports that Chin’ono had to pay a bond of Z$20 000 and was ordered to surrender his passport. He is also required to report twice a week to a Harare police station, surrender the title deeds to his residence, and stop using Twitter to “incite the holding of mass demonstrations” while on bail.
