South Africa’s Hawks have made a breakthrough in the murder of Anti-Gang Unit member Lieutenant-Colonel Charl Kinnear, arresting the son of a former police colonel on Tuesday evening at his home in Springs, east of Johannesburg. Further investigation by Maverick Citizen revealed the suspect had allegedly tracked Kinnear’s cellphone for months but claims he was not aware that he was in fact tracking Kinnear’s phone. This breakthrough, the newspaper says, will hopefully help investigators trace the phone of the person who requested the tracking of Kinnear who, a week before his death, was in Springs continuing his investigation into alleged underworld boss Nafiz Modack.
