The executive director of AgriSA, Christo van der Rheede, has called on the agricultural sector to do everything in its power to stop the further spread of Covid-19 and the trauma caused by it, reiterating that the sudden surge in the virus is putting tremendous pressure on the healthcare system. By making sure that the working conditions in agriculture are safe, van der Rheede says added pressure can be lifted from the thousands of doctors, nurses and other health workers, who are sacrificing themselves to take care of others.
