Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Kalumbi Shangula, has said 88 per cent of the N$ 727 million allocated to the health ministry by Government during the State of Emergency has been spent. The Namibia press agency quotes Shangula as saying the budget was used on the recruitment of additional human resources for health, procurement of medical supplies and equipment such as personal protective equipment and pharmaceuticals, and the construction of isolation facilities, as well as renovation of existing health facilities as part of the COVID-19 response. The minister also noted that Namibia exceeded the initial target of testing 25 000 people by more than 20 per cent at the end of the State of Emergency at midnight on Thursday.
