Seven people died instantly on Sunday when a Scania truck and a seven-seater passenger vehicle collided at 14h00 approximately 52 kilometres north of Otjiwarongo on the Otjiwarongo-Otavi B1 road. The Namibia press agency quotes Nampol’s Otjozondjupa Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator as saying that the deceased, five adult men, a male child, and an adult woman, were all travelling in the seven-seater that carried the registration number plate of Walvis Bay. It is alleged the 33-year-old driver of the seven-seater, who is yet to be identified, had attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided head-on with the oncoming truck on the right lane of the road. The 37-year-old truck driver and his co-driver aged 46 survived the accident and were treated for shock at the scene.
