As part of the State of Emergency proclamation, President Hage Geingob said that everyone in the informal settlements should have access to clean water. However, following the lapsing of the State of Emergency, it is now reported that the City of Windhoek, will start to disconnect certain utilities for those residents who fail to pay. Future Media News spoke with City of Windhoek Communication Manager, Harold Akwenye who clarified that the CoW is still providing free water to informal settlements however the service that will no longer be accessible to informal settlers is electricity.
